The Manitowoc Bandits defeated the Oshkosh Giants 10-6 Wednesday night.

The Oshkosh Giants jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as Bandits starter Miles Mayer hit the first two batters of the game.  After a strikeout and a walk, Oshkosh third baseman Doug Beattie hit a 2 RBI double to open the scoring.  From there Mayer settled down, allowing only two more runs, one earned over the next five innings.  The Bandits bats came to life in the bottom of the third inning as Galen Duff, Brandon Bartels and Mike Hall each scored.  Sam Spurney hit a double to deep centerfield cutting the score to 4-3.

Oshkosh would score again in the top of the fifth but during the bottom of the fifth, the Bandits exploded for four more runs, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Sam Spurney and a solo shot by catcher Ben Warwick.

The Bandits would tack on another three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Spurney, Brock Wetenkamp and Josh Krowiorz each scored.  Matt Phipps relieved Mayer and pitched an inning and a third before getting into a small jam in the bottom of the eighth.

Brennan Rhode came in and struck out the only two batters he faced to end the threat.  Tony Jandron pitched a scoreless ninth inning.  Brandon Bartels was 3×5 with a double, stolen base and two runs scored.  Sam Spurney finished 3×5 with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

The win counts in both the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.
