The Oshkosh Giants gave up four runs in a strange way in the top of the fifth inning in its 5-1 home loss to the Manitowoc Bandits at E.J. Schneider Field Wednesday.

Just one hit left the infield in the fifth inning, but the Bandits tallied four runs even though the Giants didn’t commit an error in the inning.

There were three walks, a wild pitch, a passed ball and an infield hit accounted for three of the four runs in the inning.

Derek Layton and Blake Berger accounted for five of the Giants’ six hits in the game; Layton was 3-for-4, while Berger was 2-for-4 with the team’s lone RBI. Tyler Kamps managed Oshkosh’s only other hit.
