Oshkosh Giants edge Manitowoc in 13th inning

A Manitowoc error on Luke Gajewski's ground ball allowed the Oshkosh Giants to score the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning a 2-1 win at E.J. Schneider Field on Wednesday night.

A Manitowoc error on Luke Gajewski’s ground ball allowed the Oshkosh Giants to score the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning a 2-1 win at E.J. Schneider Field on Wednesday night.

Bobby Kachel led off the 13th with a single and was bunted to second by Neal Hebert. Gajewsjki then hit a routine ground ball that the Bandits’ shortstop couldn’t handle, allowing Kachel to speed all the home from second with the winner.

Former Oshkosh North standout Nick Heitman picked up the win for the Giants, pitching just one inning of scoreless relief for the win.

Tyler Willman and Matt Wells combined for 14 strikeouts in 12 innings, with Wells allowing Manitowoc’s run.

Kachel finished 3-for-6, while Zac Peterson and Doug Beattie each chipped in two hits in the game. Brock Guetzke picked up a first-inning RBI for the Giants first run.
