The Kenosha Kings were finally dealt adversity in a season where little has gone wrong.

Jon Olson suffered the loss despite pitching a complete-game one-hitter as the Kings were swept by Lombard (Ill.) in a Wisconsin State League doubleheader Saturday at Simmons Field.

The Kings lost 1-0 and 5-2 in eight innings.

The Kings (31-7) dropped to 14-3 in the WSL and hold a half-game lead in the WSL ahead of the second-place Orioles. Lombard improved 12-2 in the WSL. The teams play another doubleheader 5:30 p.m. today at Madison Meadows Park in Lombard.

In the opener, Olson (2-2) lost a no-hitter with a one-out double in the sixth inning and the runner crossed scored on a two-out throwing error. Olson gave up one unearned run with three walks and five strikeouts.

The Kings mustered just three hits.

“It was a classic Kenosha-Lombard game,” Kings’ manager Tim Pulizzano said. “They don’t beat themselves.”

In the nightcap, the Kings built a 2-1 lead in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk from Mark Cibrario and a RBI single by John Hasser. The game went to extra innings tied 2-2 when the Orioles scored three runs in the eighth off Kings’ starter Randy Johnson (7-1).

Johnson went the distance and allowed 11 hits and five runs (two earned) with two walks and five strikeouts.

Right-hander Travis Vanderwall (5-0) and lefty Sean Kennedy (2-0) will start for the Kings today.
