Brandon Jeffery pitched three innings of shutout relief as the Kenosha Kings downed the Northern Illinois Legends, 8-5, in a Langsdorf League game Tuesday night at Simmons Field.

Brandon Jeffery pitched three innings of shutout relief as the Kenosha Kings downed the Northern Illinois Legends, 8-5, in a Langsdorf League game Tuesday night at Simmons Field.

The game ended in the eighth inning due to a time limit.

Pitching in relief of Kyle Cibrario, Jeffery allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out four. Cibrario gave up five runs (three earned) on three hits in five innings. He walked four and struck out six.

Joe Ferro (2-for-3) had a bases-clearing double in the sixth to help break it open for the Kings (13-2, 5-0 Langsdorf).

Tyler Eickmeyer went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Joe Balestreri went 2-for-4.

The Manitowoc Bandits fell in their season opener to the Appleton Legends 11-2 in a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League game on Tuesday at Municipal Field in Manitowoc. The Bandits were led by Nick Pierre (St. Norbert College) and Cole Griffin (Iowa Lakes Community College) who had two hits apiece. Marshall Zahn (Ripon College) took the loss, pitching six innings, striking out three and walking three. Nate Balk (Willamette University), Will Henrickson and Taylor Koth (St. Norbert College) each pitched in relief.

The Bandits are taking a leave of absence from Wisconsin State League play this season, although they are retaining their league membership in hopes of returning in 2014.

The Addison Braves and Lombard Orioles were both in action Tuesday night in the Chicago Suburban Baseball League. Scores were not reported at the time of this article.
