With first place on the line, the Kenosha Kings were shut out by the Lombard Orioles in both games of a Wisconsin State League doubleheader on Sunday at Madison Meadow Park in Lombard, Ill.
With first place on the line, the Kenosha Kings were shut out by the Lombard Orioles in both games of a Wisconsin State League doubleheader on Sunday at Madison Meadow Park in Lombard, Ill.
The Orioles won 10-0 in five innings and 4-0 in seven innings to improve to 12-2 in the State League. The Kings fell to 10-3 in the State League (18-6 overall).
Bats go silent
“It was a pretty slow day with the bats,” Kings manager Tim Pulizzano said. “They have a nice pitching staff and play solid defense.”
In the first game, JT Schneider had the lone Kenosha hit — a single in the fourth inning.
Travis Vanderwall (3-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits in three innings. He walked one and struck out three. Kyle Vanderwall gave up two runs in one inning of relief.
The Kings managed only four hits in the second game.
Cibrario takes the loss
Kenosha starter Kyle Cibrario walked two and struck out six in five innings and took the loss. He surrendered two earned runs on five hits. Ryan Windt allowed one run in one inning of relief.
The Kings next play the Sheboygan A’s on Wednesday at Wildwood Park. The game will count in both the State League and Langsdorf League standings.
