Saturday Roundup: Orioles Clinch WSL Title

The Lombard Orioles swept the Oshkosh Giants in a double header Saturday, clinching the Wisconsin State League Title for the 10th straight season.

The Lombard Orioles swept the Oshkosh Giants by scores of 3-1 and 7-1 on Saturday at E.J. Schneider Field in Oshkosh. The sweep clinched the Wisconsin State League title for the Orioles, who have won at least a share of the title in each of the last 10 seasons, and 17 of the last 22 seasons.

Yuki Yasuda hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive home the game-winning run as the Eau Claire Cavaliers defeated the Kenosha Kings 6-5 in the first game of a doubleheader. The Cavs fell 1-0 in the nightcap.

The Cavs were down 5-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, but LaDarrius Cole hit a one-out single to bring in the tying run before Yasuda drove in Cole for the victory.

In the first game, the game was scoreless entering the seventh inning. Travis Vanderwall drove in the only run.

Tyler Dierke picked up the loss despite giving up one run on three hits and striking out seven.

The Sheboygan A’s swept the Addison Braves by scores of 10-5 and 10-6 on Saturday. Addison remains win-less in the Wisconsin State League this season at 0-21.
