Orioles Win CSBL Tournament

The Lombard Orioles won the Chicago Suburban Baseball League Tournament on Saturday.

The Lombard Orioles swept through the Chicago Suburban Baseball League Tournament capping off their run with an 8-0 victory over the Beecher Muskies in the championship game. Matt Schulz, Rob McDonnell, and Tyler Jay combined for a two-hit shut-out of the Muskies, the South Division season champion. The Muskies advanced to the championship game by defeating the Addison Braves by a score of 6-4. The Braves finished third in the tournament with a 3-2 record for the week.

The Lombard Orioles and Addison Braves are now preparing for the post-season. The Orioles will participate in the AABC North Central Stan Musial Regional, while the Addison Braves will compete in the NABF Major Regional.

The Manitowoc Bandits fell by scores of 2-0 and 1-0 to the Appleton Legends in Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League play Saturday. The losses drop the Bandits to 3-14 in the NEWBL. The Bandits have taken a leave of absence from the Wisconsin State League this year, but have retained their league membership.

The Kenosha Kings will host either the West Allis Nationals or the Sheboygan A’s in the first game of the Langsdorf League championship series 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Simmons Field.

Sheboygan hosts West Allis at 7:30 tonight with the winner advancing to the best-of-three championship series.

The Kings (30-13) secured the No. 1 seed after winning the regular-season title.

Games are also scheduled for Thursday at either Sheboygan or West Allis and Saturday in Kenosha.
