Sheboygan A’s 4, Oshkosh Giants 3

Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from Luke Gajewski could carry the Oshkosh Giants past Sheboygan A’s at E.J. Schneider Field on Wednesday as the Oshkosh Giants suffered a 4-3 defeat.

It was a good day at the plate for the Giants’ Gajewski. Gajewski went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth, sixth, and ninth innings.

Gajewski was a workhorse on the mound for the Giants as well. Gajewski allowed no earned runs, six hits and one walk while striking out five over 6 1/3 innings of work.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

The A’s pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A sacrifice fly by Trevor Cho scored Ben Folger and gave Sheboygan A’s the lead for good.

Mitch McConnell was solid at the plate for Sheboygan. McConnell went 3-5 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth, seventh, and ninth innings.

Eric Schmitz got the win for Sheboygan. He allowed three runs over eight innings. Schmitz struck out seven, walked one and gave up 11 hits.

Gajewski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss.

Two runs gave Sheboygan a leg up after neither team scored for most of the game, when they scored runs on a bases loaded walk and a passed ball and an RBI triple by Ben Folger.
