The Eau Claire Cavaliers capped a strong weekend showing with a 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Lombard Orioles in Wisconsin State League action Sunday afternoon in Lombard, Ill.

The Eau Claire Cavaliers capped a strong weekend showing with a 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Lombard Orioles in Wisconsin State League action Sunday afternoon in Lombard, Ill.

The Cavaliers (8-8, 4-4), dropped the first half of Sunday’s doubleheader, 3-1, but left town taking three of four from the Orioles in a weekend set.

In the nightcap, Eau Claire scored in the top of the 10th off Lombard’s Joe Budin, who allowed one hit and walked three in his only inning of action. Phil Isaksson and Yoshinori Machida each pitched five innings, allowing a combined six hits in the victory for the Cavs.

Chevy Tollefson was the hard-luck loser in the opener for Eau Claire, which backed its starter with just one run on eight hits.
