MANITOWOC — After dropping the Manitowoc Bandits 7-1 and 5-3 on Saturday, the Lombard Orioles finished off the Wisconsin State League weekend sweep of the Bandits with a pair of 14-8 and 13-9 victories on Sunday at Municipal Field.

The Bandits took a 9-7 lead into the final inning of the nightcap, the seventh, of Military Appreciation Day but six runs by the Orioles gave them the 13-9 win and dropped Manitowoc to 19-11 overall and 9-8 in the WSL after the weekend.

Nat Richter had a home run in the third inning of the second game while Kyle Schroeder, Brock Wetenkamp, Josh Krowiorz and T.C. Lee each had doubles. Schroeder was 3-for-4 from the plate and Wetenkamp was 2-for-3. Schroeder was handed the game-two loss on Sunday after giving up five runs, three of which were earned, in the final inning.

Wetenkamp had a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning of game one but it couldn’t erase the eight runs scored by Lombard in the top of the fourth in the 14-8 loss.

Doug Bloom and Krowiorz were each 2-for-3 in game one with Schroeder adding a double.

Matt Phipps went three and two-thirds innings, striking out two, walking four and hitting two Orioles for the loss on the mound.

Manitowoc remains at Municipal Field this week for a 7:30 p.m. game on Tuesday against Sheboygan and a 7:30 p.m. game against Little Chute on Thursday.
