Bandits Open Season With Win

Any early season rust for the Manitowoc Bandits was shaken off quickly in Tuesday's 2010 season opener.

MANITOWOC — Any early season rust for the Manitowoc Bandits was shaken off quickly in Tuesday’s 2010 season opener.

The Bandits scored 11 runs in the second inning en route to a 13-3 win in seven innings over the Branch Blaze in a non-league game at Municipal Field.

Mike Hall hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the fans home early on the Bandits opening night.

Hall was 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Manitowoc. Tony Jandron, who just finished his senior year at St. Norbert, finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a two-run homer in the second inning and three RBI total in the game. Brad Liermann was 2-for-4.

Matt Phipps received the win for Manitowoc, striking out two and giving up three earned runs in three innings.

Peter Liermann was 2-for-3 for the Blaze with three RBI and a home run.

The Bandits are back in action again today at Municipal Field against Kewaskum.
