Former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Sheboygan A’s pitcher Jack Taschner will be pitching for the Oshkosh Giants Saturday at 5 p.m. at E.J. Schneider Field after being designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.

Taschner is expected to start the first game of a doubleheader against the Addison Braves and pitch between one to two innings, according to Titans coach Tom Lechnir.

Lechnir said Taschner should throw between 15 and 20 pitches so he can be available on Sunday for a second doubleheader against the Braves that is scheduled to begin at noon.

Taschner appeared in 17 games for the Pirates this season with an ERA of 6.05 and a record of 1-0. He compiled 17 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings against eight walks and 22 hits.
