Former Cavalier Being Inducted Into Hall Of Fame
July 21, 2010
Former Eau Claire Cavaliers player, Dave Johnson will be inducted into the Eau Claire Baseball History Hall of Fame.
The Eau Claire Baseball History Committee will induct 2 new members into its Hall of Fame.
The first new member is Cy Berg, a baseball coach who led the Old Abes to four state championships.
Also inducted will be Dave Johnson, a baseball player who had played with the Eau Claire Cavaliers for 18 years, and managed the legion team for 13 years.
Committee members say potential inductees face a tough process before they are chosen.
Committee Member Dick Bezanson said “Of the ballots cast, you had to be named on a majority or over 50 percent of the ballots, which with all the candidates we had, that was quite a thing to stand out that much.”
There were originally seven nominees for this year’s class, those who weren’t voted in this year will automatically be on next year’s ballot.
