The Sheboygan A’s next home game will be against the Heroes of the Diamond, the United States Military All-Stars, on Monday night at Wildwood Baseball Park.
“Sheboygan Athletic Club members and volunteers are preparing Wildwood Baseball Park for a proud, loud crowd,” said Denny Moyer, the A’s general manager for nearly half a century. “And they want that crowd cheering for both teams.”
The game will begin at 7:30 p.m., but gates will open at 5:30 for fans to view military displays and enjoy an evening of patriotism and show appreciation to those who are serving or have served in the armed forces.
“The Sheboygan Athletic Club has done a lot of good things for this community, and it is proud of its efforts and its accomplishments,” Moyer said. “But never has the club been more proud of a project than it is of the effort it is putting forth to bring in the Heroes of the Diamond, the United States Military All-Stars.”
Advance tickets for the military game are available at Trilling True Value Hardware, Talk of the Town, Legend Larry’s and Al & Al’s. Cost is $5. Shuttles will be running from the Blue Line, old Sentry and old Wal-Mart parking lots.
Moyer said the club is giving a commemorative American flag to the first 1,000 fans who enter, while everyone who passes through the gate will receive a pass to a future A’s game.
Color guards from several veterans groups will take part and the Sheboygan Pops Concert Band will perform. In additions, there will be auctions for military mirrors.
“The club views it as a way to recognize current and former service men and women,” Moyer said.
