Blending the smooth sounds of Motown and classic R&B, The Tempters will bring their crowd-pleasing show to the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts on Friday night, Feb. 25.

The Tempters Show marks the third straight year that the Sheboygan Athletic Club has brought in quality entertainment. City concert-goers will recall how well the appearances of Four Guys in Dinner Jackets were received in each of the past two years. All the proceeds generated from the Athletic Club shows go to pay for the Wildwood Baseball Park Building Project.

The Tempters have been successful in bringing the Motown Era style of entertainment back to life with their powerful solos and heartfelt harmonies. They have developed a smooth choreography that wows the audience as they float across the stage dressed in stylish, bright-colored suits.

The Tempters are a unique group that got their start by chance. They started out as an act in an original musical called “Struttin’ Uptown” in 1996. They paid a tribute to one of the best male groups of our time, The Temptations. In 1997, under the direction and encouragement of Beverly Williamson, the group stayed together and developed into a top-notch tribute band bringing a breath of fresh air to the music of The Temptations, the O’jays, the Stylistics and others.

Nominated several times, The Tempters won the coveted WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award for Best Specialty/Nostalgia group of the year in both 2005 and 2007. Performing regularly throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana, the group recently sold out over 90% of the beautiful Northern Lights Theater for their Christmas Show at Potawatomi Bingo Casino.

Backed by “Midwest Funk,” a band made up of some of the best musicians in Milwaukee, The Tempters will turn back the clock with numbers like “My Girl,” “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” and many other hits of the age.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seat tickets, selling for $25.00, are available at the Weill Center Ticket Office.

The Athletic Club will have Phase I of the Wildwood Park building project completed by this year’s baseball season. New dugouts, new protective netting and screening, a new warning track and a new on-field seating section are all part of the first phase. Wildwood is the home of the Sheboygan A’s, the American Legion team and the North and South high school baseball teams.
