The Manitowoc Bandits amateur baseball team scored three times in the first inning, but could not muster another run off Sheboygan pitching to fall 4-3 in 10 innings at Municipal Field on Thursday.
Sheboygan (7-4) scored the go-ahead run when Charlie Reschke hit a sacrifie fly to score Grant Berkowitz from third base. Berkowitz got on base with a single, stole second and was moved to third on a single by Tim Patzman.
The loss was credited to Manitowoc’s Matt Shea, who gave up the lone run on two hits in three innings of work. Taylor Schwarz got the win, holding the Bandits (12-3) to just one hit in 3.1 innings. He struck out two and walked none.
Manitowoc scored all three runs in the bottom of the first. Brock Wetenkamp scored on a wild pitch to put the Bandits up 1-0, and Kevin Valerio capped off the scoring with a two-run single.
