The Kenosha Kings rallied from four runs down to defeat the Sheboygan A’s in 10 innings by a count of 5-4 Wednesday night at Wildwood Baseball Park in Sheboygan.

The loss was Sheboygan’s third straight and the second in as many nights.

The Sheboygan bats heated up in the third inning, belting out three consecutive base hits. Tim Patzman capped the rally with a grand slam that gave the A’s a 4-0 edge.

All of a sudden, the trail went cold. Sheboygan only managed one hit in the remaining seven innings.

“We battled, we just couldn’t get any hits,” said A’s manager Shaun Wegner. “[Kenosha’s starter] just did a really nice job of keeping us off-balance and finding ways to put us down.”

Kenosha pulled even in the sixth courtesy of a John Hasser sacrifice fly, but the A’s pitching staff did their best to limit the damage and keep their team in the game.

Starter Jack Archie threw eight strong innings striking out seven and walking one. Mitchell Gardner came on in relief and worked his way out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth.

Andrew Highland dealt the decisive blow with a two-out, RBI single in the tenth that gave the Kings their first lead of the night.

Former A Jason Bunton secured the victory by pitching a scoreless 10th.

The loss drops the A’s to 4-3 in the Wisconsin State League and 10-8 overall. Sheboygan will try to get back on track Friday when they welcome the Saukville Saints to Wildwood. First pitch is at 7:30 p.m.
