A’s Salvage Split with Giants
July 20, 2011
The Oshkosh Giants and Sheboygan A's split a Tuesday night doubleheader at E.J. Schneider Field, with the Giants winning 5-2, and A's winning 4-0.
Max Kramsky threw a four-hit shutout to lead the Sheboygan A’s to a 4-0 victory in Game 2 to salvage a doubleheader split against the Giants in Oshkosh Tuesday night.
The Oshkosh Giants worked through seven walks by starting pitcher Joe Pavlovich to defeat the A’s in the opener of the doubleheader at E.J. Schneider field Tuesday night.
Kramsky struck out five, walked a pair and allowed only three Giants runners to reach second base.
The A’s took the lead in the fourth, getting a pair of runs on a Charlie Reschke double and an RBI single by Adam Wilson. Wilson drove in his second run of the game with another hit in the sixth following a second Reschke double. The fourth run came when Colin Willis singled, went to third when an errant pickoff throw sailed past the first baseman, and scored on a wild pitch. Reschke, Wilson and Willis finished with two hits to lead the offense.
Joe Pavlovich stymied the A’s in Game 1, allowing a mere four hits.
The A’s best chance to do damage came in the first, when after one out, a couple walks, a base hit by Reschke and an infield out scored one run. Another walk reloaded the bases, but a strikeout ended the threat. Willis drove in the second run in the fourth with a sacrifice fly after Taylor Schwarz singled, stole second and went to third on an error.
Mitch Gardner, who found himself in trouble in just about every inning, took the loss.
The A’s are now 18-14 overall, 7-8 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League and 7-9 in the Wisconsin State League.
They travel to Kenosha tonight and then return home Thursday for the big Bud Light Night game against Manitowoc. Larry’s Distributing is giving away a major prize every inning and 16-ounce Bud Lights are going for $2.50.
