Bandits, Cavs split Saturday doubleheader

The Manitowoc Bandits defeated the Eau Claire Cavaliers in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday, winning 11-4. The Cavs won Game 2 8-1.

The Manitowoc Bandits defeated the Eau Claire Cavaliers in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday, winning 11-4.

In the second inning the Bandits were able to put their first six batters on base and scored eight runs to put the game out of reach.

Brennan Rhode pitched six innings to earn the win, allowing four earned runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Offensively Sam Spurney was 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and three walks and Stewart Larsen was 3-for-4. Also for Manitowoc Brock Wetenkamp was 2-for-3 and Mike Hall was 2-for-4 with a double.

The Eau Claire Cavaliers won game two 8-1.

The Bandits will take on Eau Claire again today in a doubleheader starting at noon in Manitowoc.
