Facing huge financial challenges, the Sheboygan A’s baseball club will sell bond certificates to fans.

The renovation at Wildwood Baseball Park has put the A’s in a large cash outlay. Tax-deductible sustaining bond certificates are available in amounts from $50 to $5,000.

The Athletic Club has spent close to $1 million in the past 15 years building, maintaining and improving Wildwood Baseball Park so that the Sheboygan A’s along with the Sheboygan American Legion and North and South High School baseball programs will have good facility in which to play.

“We have had great sponsorship through the years and a number of folks have stepped up with contributions, some of them sizeable, but the burden of this latest renovation, along with the rising costs of sustaining our programs has placed us in a tough financial situation,” said longtime A’s general manager Denny Moyer.

“We are hoping the community will rally and support this effort. We have invested a lot into the community and now we need the community to bond with us.”

The bonds, like Green Bay Packers stock, have no cash value.

All participants will receive a bond certificate, be invited to attend an annual pre-season meeting, be listed in the program and at the ballpark and receive game tickets.

People can purchase a bond in the amount of $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or $5,000. Persons interested in purchasing bonds can complete the form on the A’s website (www.sheboyganbaseball.org), or they can send a check along with the names, addresses and telephone numbers or email addresses of the persons whose names they wish to have inscribed on the bond to: Sheboygan Athletic Club, PO Box 32, Sheboygan, WI 53081.
