OSHKOSH – A couple muffed ground balls followed by a couple muffed scoring opportunities left the Sheboygan A’s 4-3 losers to the Oshkosh Giants on Monday night.
The loss puts the A’s at 0-1 in the Wisconsin State League. The Giants improved to 2-1 in the Wisconsin State League, and are currently in the top spot in the standings.
The A’s scored two runs in the second after Harry Steldt got hit by a pitch, Drew Pearson doubled and Justin hunt drove in both with another double.
It stayed at 2-0 until the fourth when a pair of infield errors by the A’s helped Oshkosh to a 4-run inning.
The A’s got one back in the seventh but got the tying run thrown out at the plate on a close call. Then in the eighth, the A’s left the bases loaded and Oshkosh escaped with a 4-3 victory.
Nate Heitman got the win for the Giants with Luke Westphal picking up the save.
