Former Lombard Orioles pitcher Ian Krol (2009) has been called up to the major league’s by the Washington Nationals.

Krol is called up to the majors for the first time after impressing at Double-A Harrisburg with a 0.69 ERA through 21 games.

He was acquired by the Nationals in an offseason trade that sent Michael Morse to the Seattle Mariners. It was a three-team trade that brought Krol over from the Oakland Athletics after four years in their minor league system.

Krol joins former Orioles J.A Happ (Toronto Blue Jays), Jerry Hairston, Jr. (Los Angeles Dodgers) and George Kontos (San Francisco Giants) in the major leagues.
