Randy Johnson and Travis Vanderwall teamed up for a seven-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts as the Kenosha Kings blanked the Racine Kiwanis, 8-0, in a Langsdorf League game Monday night at Horlick Field.

After being idle over the weekend, the Kings used their top two pitchers on Monday against Racine.

Johnson (5-2) pitched the first five innings and allowed three hits and no walks while striking out four. Vanderwall fanned 10 in four innings of relief. He gave up four hits and walked one.

“We came out and did what we were supposed to do,” Kings manager Tim Pulizzano said. “Randy and Travis threw the ball well and we played good defense behind them.”

The Kings (22-8, 12-2 Langsdorf) scored three runs in the first inning as they collected three of their 10 hits. Joe Ferro had an RBI single, Jason Dennis had an RBI double and Mark Cibrario had an RBI fielder’s choice.

Joe Balestreri went 3-for-5 and Ferro went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

The Kings play the West Allis Nationals 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zirkel Field.
