The Sheboygan A’s batted to a quick lead and cruised the rest of the way Friday to a 13-1 win over the Oshkosh Giants in a five-inning game shortened by a 10-run rule.

The game marked the A’s 13th straight win and should promise the team some momentum heading into a long weekend. The A’s, who are hosting the Wisconsin State League Challenge through Sunday, are scheduled to play the Addison Braves tonight before playing the Lombard Orioles and Kenosha Kings on Sunday.

Sheboygan scored three runs in the first inning, three more in the second before combining for eight runs in the fourth and fifth against the Giants, whose only score came on a solo home run.

Trevor Theisen’s four runs and three htis helped lead Sheboygan’s offense. Cole Heili helped with three hits and three RBIs. Harry Steldt and Sam Mattheis each had two hits, and Steldt added three more RBIs to boot.

Sheboygan finished with 14 hits on the night.

“Our kids are just hitting the ball,” A’s general manager Denny Moyer said, noting his club has managed 32 hits in the last two games. “They’re hitting the ball a ton.”

Derek Loomans (3-3) took the win after going all five innings on the A’s mound with six hits and a run. He notched three strikeouts.

The A’s notched their 12th straight win a night earlier on the road in Manitowoc Thursday, where Sheboygan pulled ahead early in a 12-6 win over the Bandits.
