Tuesday Roundup: Giants, Orioles earn victories

A recap of Wisconsin State League teams in action Tuesday night.
Zach Laffey hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to lift the Red Wing Aces to a 2-0 victory over the Eau Claire Cavaliers in a nonleague game Tuesday night in Red Wing, Minn.
Laffey’s homer was the only damage in an otherwise-strong start by Cale Ross, who gave up two runs on four hits in seven innings. He struck out three and walked no one.

Ian Zahn tossed a four hit shutout as the Oshkosh Giants posted a 9-0 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League victory over the Manitowoc Bandits at E.J. Schneider Field Tuesday.
Zahn struck out seven as the Giants pulled away from the Bandits. Brandon Lalk and Luke Gajewski continued their hot hitting. Lalk went 2×3 with a tripple and a double and three RBI’s while Gajewski added a pair of hits and two RBI’s. Sam Klein chipped in for two hits and Robbie Kleman also drove in a run.
The Giants host the Sheboygan A’s Wednesday night at at 7:30. The game will count in both the Wisconsin State Leauge and the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.
The Lombard Orioles defeated the Westmont Red Sox 7-4 in Chicago Suburban Baseball Leauge action Tuesday night. The victory put the Orioles at 22-4 in the CSBL, good for both first place in the North Division and overall.
