Kings lose two

The Lombard Orioles swept the Kenosha Kings, 3-2 and 2-0, in a Wisconsin State League doubleheader at Madison Meadows Park in Lombard.

The Lombard (Ill.) Orioles swept the Kenosha Kings, 3-2 and 2-0, in a Wisconsin State League doubleheader at Madison Meadows Park in Lombard.

In the opener, the Orioles scored three unearned runs against Kings starter Randy Johnson, who went the distance and allowed five hits while striking out five and walking none. Derek Idstein hit a two-run double to right field in the sixth to pull the Kings within 3-2.

In Game 2, Kenosha (15-6, 6-4 WSL) tallied five hits, with Mike Dickerson going 2-for-2 with a double. Kings starter John Snelten took the loss after giving up four hits and two earned runs in five innings while walking two and striking out five. Garrett Arnold pitched a scoreless sixth.

Up next for the Kings in a non-league game 8 p.m. Tuesday against the Homestead Ranchers at Bowen Park in Waukegan, Ill.
