The Sheboygan A’s finished their run in the Wisconsin State League Challenge Sunday with a 7-6 win over Eau Claire and a 5-3 loss to league power Lombard.

Sheboygan scored three runs in the bottom of the final inning to edge the Cavaliers. Harry Steldt hit a two-RBI double in the inning, and later scored the walk-off run when Cole Heili belted a base hit.

Chad Langley hit a home run earlier in the game and finished 2-for-3.

Mitch Gardner picked up the win in relief.

Lombard got off to a hot start in the A’s second game, scoring three runs in the first inning and two more in the third.

Brandon Winfield retired the Orioles’ last 15 batters, settling down the A’s defense after the team gave up the early runs, but the offense couldn’t pick up enough runs to close the gap.

Steldt and Heili each finished with a single and a double.

Sheboygan hosted the challenge, with games played at Wildwood Baseball Park and at Howards Grove’s Memorial Park.

Kenosha 5, Sheboygan 4

Cole Heili blasted a two-run home run in the first inning, but Kenosha eventually shifted momentum and ended up handing the Sheboygan A’s a 5-4 loss in the A’s tournament-opening game.

The Kings narrowed the game to 2-1, then scored three runs in the third inning to capture a lead they wouldn’t give up the rest of the night at Wildwood Baseball Park.
