Sheboygan A’s planning 5k run/walk

The Sheboygan A’s baseball organization announced this week it will host the Sheboygan A’s 5K Home Run! event — sponsored by ExxonMobil — on May 31.

All proceeds will benefit the Sheboygan Athletic Club and
Wildwood Baseball Park, where the run/walk route will start and finish.
Starting
on New Jersey Avenue, participants will head north on 15th Street with a
slight curve on Niagara Avenue taking them to the 14th Street bridge.
They then will head west on Ontario Avenue past Starbucks and southwest
onto the bike path to Niagara Avenue.
The route then heads north
along North 18th Street, around the corner on Erie Avenue, south to
North Evans Street and bringing participants to South 22nd Sreet.
The
homestretch returns runners and walkers on New Jersey Avenue into the
ball park entrance and around the warning track on the baseball field,
ending in left field.
The run/walk will start at 8 a.m. with slow
movers and those with strollers asked to line up near the back.
Bicycles, roller skates/blades, skateboards, pets and wheelchairs will
not be allowed. Packets and t-shirts may be picked up the day of the
race or from 2-6 p.m. on May 30 at Wildwood Baseball Park.
After
the race, awards will be given to the top overall male and female
runners along with the Top 3 male and female runners in the following
age groups:14 and younger, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and
70 and older.
Registration will include bib chip timing, a cotton
t-shirt, one free Sheboygan A’s baseball ticket voucher, massage
therapist and first aid station at the finish line, a goody bag and a
free post-race beer to participants 21 and older or a free soda or water
for those younger than 21. Music will also be provided before and after
the race.
