SHEBOYGAN – When you think playoff baseball, you think big
crowds with talented teams competing at a high level, bringing an intense
atmosphere to the ballpark. The Sheboygan A’s and Appleton Legends did just
that in the second round of the Northeastern Wisconsin League playoffs Tuesday
night.

Behind the electric crowd, the A’s advanced to the Championship

Neither team recorded a hit until the 3rd inning.
In the A’s half of said inning, Tony Grannis roped a single to left field. The
next batter, Dylan Detert found a gap for an RBI double to give the A’s a 1-0
lead.

The crowd enjoyed a big 5th inning that saw seven
A’s batters head to the plate. In the frame TJ McCoy and Harry Steldt notched
RBI hits increasing the A’s lead to 5-0.

Appleton put one run on the board in the 6th but
A’s pitching did not allow another run leading the team to the 7-1 triumph.

An excellent outing from A’s starter Eric Schmitz kept the A’s
in control throughout the contest. Schmitz had a no-hitter going for the first
4 1/3 innings. In the victory, he recorded five strikeouts while only allowing
four hits in seven complete innings of work. Brandon Winfield went the final
two innings striking out three and only allowing one base runner.

Tony Grannis reached base three times, two via singles and
the other by fielder’s choice. He also scored three runs. McCoy finished the
night with three hits and three RBI. Dylan Detert had three hits, two RBI and
two stolen bases. Blake Fleischman added three hits and an RBI.

As a team, the A’s recorded 14 hits.

With the Menasha Macs besting the Oshkosh Giants Tuesday
