WSL Wednesday Recap: Giants, Dodgers Fall

The Oshkosh Giants and De Pere Dodgers both fell in non-WSL action Wednesday night.

Wisconsin State League

Menasha Macs 2, 7, Oshkosh Giants 0, 0

At Menasha, Macs pitchers Eric Zuberbier, John Canipe and Jack Taschner combined to shut out the Giants over 14 innings in a doubleheader sweep at Koslo Park.

Zuberbier tossed a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the opener.

Canipe scattered four hits over five innings in the second game with four strikeouts, while Taschner finished up with two scoreless innings and struck out three.

Branch Blaze 8, De Pere Dodgers 4

The De Pere Dodgers lost 8-4 in seven innings at Westwood Baseball Field on Wednesday, despite outhitting Branch 10 to nine.

Michael Larsen got a hit in each of his two at bats. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning. 

Two De Pere runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the third, making the score 4-2. An RBI triple by Noah Robinson and an RBI single by Austen Dart triggered the Dodgers’ comeback. Brendan Meissner struck out to end the threat. 

One run in the bottom of the fifth helped the Dodgers close their deficit to 7-3.
