The Wisconsin State League, one of the premier semi-professional baseball leagues in the country, will begin its 48th season on Sunday, May 21, when the Kenosha Kings welcome the Addison Braves to Simmons Field in Kenosha.
The League, will again host a Challenge weekend, where all league teams will be in Sheboygan July 7-9 competing in regular season games. The Challenge was created to add a fifth game against each team to the schedule, while making the game in a more neutral location to reduce travel. Select Challenge games will be hosted at teams’ individual facilities outside of the Challenge weekend.
The official league champion will again be determined from the regular season standings. The Lombard Orioles have won at least a share of the title in each of the last 13 seasons. The regular season concludes Tuesday, August 1 in Lombard with the Orioles hosting Addison.
In its second year, the Wisconsin State League Invitational Tournament will receive a major overhaul. All five Wisconsin based WSL teams will be in the tournament, as well as teams from the Southeastern Wisconsin Baseball League, in a double-elimination format. All games featuring WSL teams will be taking place in Sheboygan at Wildwood Park. The tournament takes place Tuesday, August 1 through Sunday, August 6.
The full league schedule can be found on the leagues’ official Game Changer site.
