Dodgers Capture Lead Early To Defeat Giants

The Oshkosh Giants fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-3 loss to the De Pere Dodgerson Thursday.

The Oshkosh Giants fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-3 loss to the De Pere Dodgerson Thursday. De Pere scored on a double by Connor Rutherford in the first inning, a double by Joe Baier in the second inning, a double by Sam Kohnle in the second inning, and a single by Austen Dart in the second inning.

De Pere scored four runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for De Pere came thanks to a single by Connor Bagnieski and a home run by Joe Baier.

Jacob Watzka earned the win for De Pere Dodgers. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out ten. Caleb Schoenholz threw one and one-third innings, as two relievers helped De Pere finish off the victory. Matt Sabel took the loss for Oshkosh Giants. He pitched seven innings, surrendering 11 runs, 15 hits, and striking out five.

Hunter Messerschmidt went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Oshkosh in hits.

Baier, Zach Abfall, Sam Kohnle, Rutherford, and Austen Dart each collected multiple hits for De Pere. Baier went 3-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with five runs batted in.
