Tuesday Recap: Dodgers Sweep by A’s

The De Pere Dodgers had their way with the Sheboygan A's Tuesday night, sweeping the Tuesday doubleheader by scores of 12-7 and 13-0.

The De Pere Dodgers had their way with the Sheboygan A’s Tuesday night, sweeping the Tuesday doubleheader by scores of 12-7 and 13-0. The wins move De Pere into fourth place in the seven team Wisconsin State League with a record and 14-11. The A’s, on a bit of a tailspin, fall to 16-12 overall, having lost five straight.

The Dodgers pounded out 16 hits in the game one victory. Sam Kohnle and Michael Manns collected three hits apiece while Joe Baier, Connor Rutherford and Austen Dart all chipped in two.

A’s starter Mitchell Gardner struggled in the loss, giving up 11 runs, nine of which were earned, and 13 hits in just four innings.

In game two, a 10-run second inning for De Pere put the game away early. The Dodgers attacked A’s pitcher John VanderPloeg, scoring 11 runs off of him in the first inning and a third. Five Dodgers recorded multi-hit games in the victory.

Joe Baier picked up the game two win, pitching five innings of shutout baseball. He allowed three hits.
