Wednesday Recap: Reckert’s Walkoff Gives Sheboygan Victory Over West Allis
August 3, 2017
Down 6-2 in the final inning, the Sheboygan A's stormed back Wednesday night to take a 7-6 victory of the West Allis Nationals in both team's final league game of the season.
Sheboygan A’s 7, West Allis Nationals 6
Down 6-2 entering the bottom half of the final inning, the A’s used good eyes at the plate to draw the game to 6-5, with one out and bases loaded.
Up to the plate came Logan Reckert, who had been 0-2 on the evening. That didn’t matter.
Reckert hit a single into the left-center gap off of Nationals pitcher Kanyon Fellers, scoring two and giving the A’s a 7-6 come from behind victory in the opening round of the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament. The game also doubled as a league game because the two teams were washed out last week.
The game concluded the WSL regular seasons for both clubs. The A’s finished 18-12 in the standings and currently sit in second place, while the Nationals finish at an even 15-15 in their second full season in the league.
