Play Ball! Wisconsin State League Announces 2018 Schedule
March 22, 2018
The Wisconsin State League has announced its 2018 schedule.
Today, the Wisconsin State League, entering its 49th season as the premier semi-pro baseball league in the Midwest, announced its full slate of games for the 2018 season. The Wisconsin State League will once again feature seven teams, each playing a 30-game regular season schedule in the WSL.
The Addison Braves and West Allis Nationals get the WSL’s 49th season started on Saturday, May 26 with a 3 PM doubleheader at Rainbow Park in West Allis.
The League will again host a Challenge weekend, where all Wisconsin State League teams will be in Sheboygan at Wildwood Park July 6-8 competing in regular season games. The Challenge was created to add a fifth game against each team to the schedule while placing the games all in a central location to reduce travel. Select Challenge games will be hosted at teams’ individual facilities outside of the Challenge weekend.
The official league champion will again be determined from the regular season standings. The Lombard Orioles have won at least a share of the title in each of the last 14 seasons. The regular season concludes Monday, August 6 in Lombard with the Orioles hosting Addison.
Now in its third year, what started out as the “Wisconsin State League Invitational Tournament” has now been reorganized into the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament, featuring the top teams from the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League, Southeastern Wisconsin Baseball League, and the Wisconsin-based teams from the Wisconsin State League. Games will take place at regional sites with the championship weekend being held at Wagner Park in West Bend, home of Wisconsin State League affiliate member, West Bend 7 Up.
The full league schedule can be found on the leagues’ official Game Changer site.
