Nationals Open 2019 WSL Season with Sweep of Addison

The West Allis Nationals and Addison Braves got the 2019 Wisconsin State League season underway Saturday.

The West Allis Nationals swept the Addison Braves in the opener of the 2019 Wisconsin State League season Saturday. Addison watched game one slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-2 loss. The Braves struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing West Allis, giving up 14 runs. Rob Zolecki got the game one win for West Allis. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out six. Nick Bingham and Wilson Belknapp entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. The Nationals scattered 15 hits in the game. In game two, it was more of the same, as the Braves struggled to put runs on the board, and couldn’t contain the Nationals offense. Ben Ellifson was the winning pitcher for West Allis, going four innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out three. Antonio Valadez threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Eric Ryan took the loss for the Addison Braves. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on 11 hits and striking out one.
