Burlington closes out the game in the bottom of the 9th vs West Allis
Burlington Barons 8 – 7 West Allis Nationals
It came down to the wire on Wednesday, with The Burlington Barons taking victory on a dramatic walk-off walk in the late innings that sealed their victory over The West Allis Nationals. The game was tied at seven with Burlington batting in the bottom of the ninth when Aaron Steinhoff drew a walk, scoring one run.
Burlington earned the victory despite allowing West Allis to score four runs in the fourth inning. Max Montgomery and JT Reed all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Burlington got things moving in the second inning, when Dane Helnore doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs.
After West Allis scored two runs in the top of the fifth, Burlington answered with two of their own. West Allis scored when Aaron Goecks homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Burlington then answered when Brady Nowicki doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Noal Brouwer earned the victory on the mound for Burlington. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out three. Drew Pesick threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
