Saturday Sweeps: Three Doubleheaders, Three Sweeps

The Lombard Orioles, who are currently leading the Wisconsin State League standings swept the West Allis Nationals in a two-game series on Saturday with final scores of 9-1 and 13-3. Lombard took an offensive hold on both games scoring five runs in the first inning of each game. They also put three home runs out of the park in game one, Ryan Lin-Peistrup hit two and Jack Grace hit one in the first inning. The Nationals’ only run scored in game one came in the second inning on a dinger by Griffin Doershing. Game two began with a homer from Lombard’s Andy Gaytan followed by hits from Jake Novak, Grace, Jeremmy Figueroa, Sam Hojnar and Adam Zeratsky. Two home runs in the fifth and final inning of the game hit by Grace – his second home run in the series and Novak led to a mercy rule against the Nationals.

The Sheboygan A’s captured two wins against the Burlington Barons on Saturday, with a final score of 11-2 in the first game and shutting them out 9-0 in the second. A huge seventh inning in game one scored nine of Sheboygan’s runs. Hits from Ross Krist, Mark Wanner, Tyler Brandenburg, a handful of walks, and a home run from Josh Moses all led to the accumulation of runs. Burlington attempted at a comeback in the last inning and scored on an RBI single from Jason Adams but ultimately fell nine runs short. The A’s racked up their runs sooner in the second game putting up seven runs by the fourth inning. Moses hit a three-run home run, his second one in the series. Burlington’s Ben Siekierski and Jason Dennis each collected one hit to lead the Barons but once again they weren’t able to outplay the A’s. Sheboygan’s pitcher Brad Rindfleisch shut the Barons out and earned the victory on the mound, he allowed zero runs on two hits and struck out 13.

Kenosha Kings 11, Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons 0

The Kenosha Kings defeated the Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons in both games of a Saturday doubleheader, shutting them out 11-0 in the first game. In the second game, Green Bay put up a greater fight but eventually took another loss 12-10. Kenosha scored four runs in the third and fifth innings, home runs hit by Riley Hughes and Daniel Hahn assisted in putting runs on the board. Ryan Hoerter pitched for Kenosha, letting up two hits over five innings and striking out nine. The Blue Ribbons did their best to capture a win in game two and scored 10 runs in doing so, although it wasn’t enough to contest with Kenosha, who had 11 of their runs on the board at the end of the fourth inning. The Kings scored five runs in the third inning with an offense led by Mason Schultz, Mark Cibrario, Aaron Schauer, and Zack Paczocha, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Green Bay saw the ball well in the fifth inning and scored six of their runs on hits from Eric Modaff, Ethan Habetler, a home run from Yuta Kudoh, and a triple from Griffin Summers. Despite the Blue Ribbons’ 10 hits in the second game, they took a second loss against the Kenosha Kings.
