The league-leading Lombard Orioles as well as the Burlington Barons both posted doubleheader sweeps on Saturday.

Wisconsin State League

Lombard Orioles 3, Kenosha Kings 0
Lombard Orioles 5, Kenosha Kings 4

The Lombard Orioles shut out the Kenosha Kings 3-0 in their first game of two games on Saturday afternoon. In game two Kenosha competed more putting up four runs but ultimately took another loss 5-4. In the first game, Lombard’s offense showed up in the first inning scoring right away on a RBI double from Kyle Fitzgerald. Drew Clavenna earned the win for the Orioles and Jake Kmieck recorded the last six outs to earn the save. Game two was all tied up at 1-1 until the final inning when Kenosha scored three runs to take the lead but Lombard answered back and scored four to take the win. The game ended with an impressive walk-off homerun from Andy Nelson that led to a consecutive win over Kenosha.

Burlington Barons 8, Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons 2
Burlington Barons 9, Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons 3

The Burlington Barons swept the Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons on Saturday with final scores of 8-2 and 9-3. In game one Burlington attained an early lead that they never lost, scoring three runs in the fourth inning. The inning began with a triple hit by Jason Adams followed up with singles from Bert Nowicki and Zach Campbell. Game two played out familiar with Burlington scoring early, Ben Siekierski and Zach Campbell each collected two hits to lead the Barons. Green Bay’s three runs were scored in the first and second innings on a 2-RBI double from Jake Berg and a RBI single from Eric Modaff.
