The Sheboygan A’s will be hosting the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament at Wildwood Park August 7-8 at Wildwood Park.

The Wisconsin Class A State Tournament, put on by the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Association, currently features the top Wisconsin-based teams from the Wisconsin State League and the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.

As hosts of the tournament, the A’s will receive an automatic bid into the tournament’s final four. Also receiving an automatic bid are the Menasha Macs of the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League as they are the defending champions from 2019 (2020 was postponed due to Covid-19).

Both the WSL and NEWBL will host their own regional qualifiers for the final two spots in the State Tournament.

In the WSL, the teams will compete in a step-ladder format based on the regular-season standings. The Kenosha Kings will play the Burlington Barons on August 3 in Burlington at 7:30 PM. The winner of that contest will play at Sheboygan against the A’s on August 4 at 7:30 PM, with the winner of the August 4 game playing against West Allis (in Burlington) on August 5. The winner on August 5 will receive the WSL birth into the State tournament. Should the A’s win the WSL regional, the runner-up will receive the State tournament birth.

The Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons will be competing in the NEWBL regional of the qualifier based on their geographic proximity to those teams, as well as them being members of both leagues along with Sheboygan.

The State Tournament will be a four-team double-elimination tournament beginning August 7 at 12 PM. The A’s will play at noon against the NEWBL qualifier. That game will be followed by the Menasha Macs facing the Wisconsin State League qualifier at 2:30 PM. At 5 PM, the two teams who lost their first games will play, with the loser of the 5 PM game being eliminated. The final game of the day, at 7:30 PM, will feature the winners from game one and game two.

On August 8, tournament action will resume at 11 AM with the winner of game three Saturday and loser of game four Saturday. Game six of the tournament will take place at 1:30 PM Sunday, with the winners of games four and five. If necessary, a sixth game would be played at 4 PM between the winner and loser of game six for the State championship.
