Major League Baseball may be in a labor dispute, but area fans will still be able to cheer on their teams as the Wisconsin State League has released the schedule for the 2022 season.

Once again, all seven teams from 2021 return this summer, including the Addison (Illinois) Braves, Burlington Barons, Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons, Kenosha Kings, Lombard (Illinois) Orioles, Sheboygan A’s, and West Allis Nationals.

The 2022 regular-season champion will be crowned based on the best regular-season winning percentage. Each team will play a 30-game schedule, with five matchups against each opponent.

The West Allis Nationals travel to Kenosha for a game with the Kings on Tuesday, May 24 to officially get things underway for the Wisconsin State League.

The “Challenge” weekend again returns to Sheboygan June 11-12. The “Challenge” is a weekend where all WSL teams travel to Sheboygan for regular-season contests in one location (to help reduce travel for teams). Games will be played at the A’s stadium, Wildwood Park, and at the nearby Field of Dreams.

The regular season concludes Monday, August 1, with a match-up between Lombard and Addison.

The WSL bracket of the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament will take place August 2-4. The bracket will feature the top four Wisconsin-based teams out of the Wisconsin State League, in a single-elimination step-ladder playoff. The #3 seed will host the #4 seed on Aug. 2. That game’s winner will play at the #2 seed Aug. 3, and the winner of that game plays at the #1 seed on Aug. 4. The winner will advance to the final four of the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament, being hosted by the Appleton Legends of the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The West Allis Nationals took home the title in 2021.
