The Lombard Orioles and Burlington Barons opened up their 2022 WSL season's with sweeps.

Wisconsin State League

Lombard Orioles 8, 11, Kenosha Kings 1, 10

Lombard notched four runs in the sixth inning to deliver the final blow in a 8-1 victory in game one over Kenosha. Caleb Thomson got the win for the Orioles as the lefty allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Jacob Cyrus and Jim Severson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Lombard took game two 11-10 in dramatic fashion. Despite falling down by seven runs in the fifth inning, Kenosha fought back by nine runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh, getting clutch RBI’s from Daniel Hahn, Drew Knecht, Collin Callahan, Tyler Neuman, Kyle Kutzler, and Tony Neuman. Lombard then led off the bottom of the seventh with a triple and after a walk and two more singles, drove in the winning run to finish off the sweep.
