The race for the Wisconsin State League championship is down to the West Allis Nationals and Lombard Orioles. The Nationals have a two game lead on Lombard with a pivotal doubleheader matchup set on July 29 between the two clubs. West Allis is seeking to become the first team to outright win the WSL Championship outside of Lombard since the Chicago Prairie Gravel won it in 2003, and the first Wisconsin-based team to win it since the Sheboygan A’s in 2000. The last time the Orioles didn’t outright win the title was in 2006 when the finished in a three-way tie with the Eau Claire Cavaliers and Kenosha Kings.
