Kings, Nationals Sweep Saturday Doubleheaders

The Kings and Nationals both picked up sweeps in doubleheader action Saturday.

Kenosha Kings 15, Addison Braves 3
Cal Bocchino drove in five runs on four hits, leading Kenosha to a 15-3 victory over Addison in game one. Bocchino singled in the first to drive in two, hit a two-run homer in the third, and doubled in the fourth to bring in another run. Kenosha scored early with Samuel Plash’s sacrifice fly and Bocchino’s single, added a run in the second with Zach Lee’s single, and continued to build their lead with a four-run third inning. They sealed the game with a four-run sixth inning highlighted by Colin Jensen’s double and Lee’s three-run homer. Christopher Mercier earned the win, allowing two runs over five innings with eight strikeouts. Kenosha tallied 15 hits, with Julio Caigas, Tariq Bacon, and Lee each getting multiple hits. Jack Wade led Addison with two hits.

Kenosha took the lead in the second inning with a two-run homer by Luke Jackson, a two-run double by Jared Bujdos, and an RBI groundout by Zach Lee. Jackson pitched three and one-third innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Kenosha tallied 14 hits, with Colin Jensen leading the way with three hits and Bujdos, Jensen, and Jackson each driving in two runs. Harry Fandre, JD Swarbrick, and Tyler Martini had two hits each for Addison.

West Allis Nationals 3, Lombard Orioles 2
The game was tied at two in the bottom of the eighth when Brian Huntzinger’s fielder’s choice allowed the winning run to score. Both teams displayed strong pitching, with the Orioles striking out eight. Alex Chaltin’s RBI single and a wild pitch gave Lombard an early lead. West Allis tied it in the fifth with two groundouts, and Danny Belknapp earned the win, pitching four scoreless innings. Lombard’s Trevor Fishman took the loss, allowing the decisive run.

West Allis scored first in the opening inning with a Tyrese Mitchell RBI single and added two more runs in the third on Mitchell’s double. DJ Hess secured the win, pitching five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Tyler Bartczak took the loss for Lombard Orioles, giving up three runs over three innings. Mitchell led West Allis Nationals with three RBIs and two hits.
