It came down to the wire on Thursday as the West Allis Nationals grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 6-2, over the Kenosha Kings. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the ninth when Gavin Bennett delivered a dramatic grand slam to right field to win the game. The win gives the Nationals home-field advantage in their WSL step-ladder playoff matchup with Sheboygan next week for the right to go to the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament, while the loss is damaging to Kenosha’s WSL title hopes. A RBI-single by Brian Huntzinger had put the Nationals on the board in the bottom of the first, while a RBI-single by Tariq Bacon tied the game at two in the top of the seventh for Kenosha. Presley Wachowiak earned the win for the Nationals, allowing one hit and zero runs over one inning. Jake Hartman started for the Nationals, giving up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine. Ryan Skillman started for the Kings, giving up five hits and two runs over six innings. Bennett led the Nationals with four RBIs. Huntzinger, Ashton Kampa, Jonah Meidl, Logan Pye, Garrett Kay, and Bennett each collected one hit. Bacon led the Kings with two RBIs, and Zach Lee went 2-for-4 to lead the team in hits. The Kings turned one double play in the game.
