The Orioles, who did not sit in first place until Sunday, re-claimed the title after winning their last eight games down the stretch to leap-frog both Kenosha and Green Bay who had been at the top of the standings all season long.
Rain caused chaos on the league’s schedule over the summer, with the West Allis Nationals the only team able to complete the full season schedule.
Only two wins separated Lombard from fifth place in a highly competitive season. Lombard finishes the year with 16 wins, Green Bay, Kenosha, and West Allis finished at 15, and Sheboygan at 14.
The championship is Lombard’s 26th since entering the Wisconsin State League in 1992.
