Lombard Sweeps Kenosha to Open WSL Play

The Lombard Orioles opened up their 2025 WSL season with a doubleheader sweep of Kenosha.

Kendall Lyons was nearly untouchable, striking out 10 across six hitless innings as the Lombard Orioles shut out the Kenosha Kings. Lyons walked just two and faced the minimum through multiple frames before handing the ball to Kevin Pauly for a scoreless seventh. Offensively, Lombard built an early lead with a two-run single by Dylan Holmes in the first, then broke it open with a three-run fourth and three more in the sixth. Holmes and John Fleaka each drove in two runs, and Jake Troyner joined them with a two-hit performance as the Orioles totaled 10 hits while keeping Kenosha off the board.

David Collie powered the Lombard offense with four RBIs on a double and a single as the Orioles cruised to a 12-1 win over the Kenosha Kings. Lombard scored four in the opening frame and added runs in each of the first three innings before breaking it open with a five-run fifth. Dylan Holmes went 3-for-4 with an RBI and also led the defense with four chances handled cleanly. Jeremy Yanow earned the win with three-plus scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. Lombard drew six walks, collected 10 hits, and played error-free baseball to complete the dominant performance.
