West Allis used a seven-run seventh inning to pull away from Lombard for a 12-5 victory Saturday. The Nationals grabbed an early lead on a two-run homer by Rob Coe in the second and added another run in the third when Max Montgomery singled home Chance Ruby. Lombard chipped away with a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Will Potter and pulled within 5-3 in the sixth behind Evan Schmitt’s first two-run homer of the game. West Allis responded with its decisive rally in the seventh, beginning with Ruby’s second home run of the night, a three-run shot. The Nationals continued to pour it on with RBI hits from Montgomery, Andrew Carlson, and Coe, a bases-loaded walk to Trey Kerkhoff, a run-scoring double play, and a two-run homer from Aaron Goecks. Ruby finished 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs, and four runs scored, while Coe went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Schmitt provided most of Lombard’s offense, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Dylan Feldkamp earned the win in relief, striking out four over 3.1 innings, while West Allis totaled 12 hits and four home runs in the victory.
