The Kenosha Kings moved into sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin State League with a 5-2 victory over the Lombard Orioles on Tuesday. Kenosha jumped in front in the first inning when Tyler Martin walked, stole third, and scored on an error, then added two more runs in the third behind doubles from Aaron Hurd and Jacob Schlesselman. Lombard answered with two runs in the fourth as Constatine Coines delivered a two-run double to score Evan Schmitt and Easton Newman, cutting the deficit to 3-2. The game remained tight until the seventh when the Kings loaded the bases and pushed across two insurance runs on a pair of walks issued by Lombard pitching. Ethan Warren earned the win, allowing two runs over six innings while striking out five, and Kenosha’s bullpen combined for three scoreless innings to close it out. Schlesselman doubled, singled, walked, and scored twice for the Kings, while Coines accounted for both Lombard runs with his fourth-inning double.
